Making Friends As An Adult

Saw Hank Green's video on how to make friends as an adult (link) and I cannot agree more. Friendships take work and valuing a new person can seem like a daunting new task that nobody wants to bother with. You may go out of your way to meet people and become acquaintances but how many of those people do you actually stay friends with and make a strong connection to? Nothing worth having comes easy, it's cliche I know, but it still proves true in this case. If you really want to befriend a person you gotta put in the work and make a commitment. Hopefully they see your effort and make a commitment with you to be good friends.

Blue Skies Are Always There

I have a meditation app called Headspace and it introduced to me an interesting concept that I'd like to share. It likened the mind to a blue sky with thoughts as clouds, light thoughts as light clouds and heavy thoughts as heavy clouds (well, duh). Anyway it put things into perspective on how there's always going to be blue sky, because even when there are heavy dark clouds in your horizon, just go above it and you'll see blue skies right there waiting for you. It's a great analogy. So take a moment to meditate on that, feel lighter and give your mind a break because blue skies are always there.

How Long Should One Wait for Someone?

A friend of mine invited me to go jogging with him.
I accepted thinking it would be nice to have company while jogging for once.
I got to our appointed place at the appointed time, right on the dot and he was nowhere to be seen, so I waited. 10 minutes go by and he's still a no show. I begin my warm-up. It is at this moment that I began to think 'how long should one wait for someone?'

In this case, since it was just a jogging session that I could do alone, I waited 30 minutes and started without him. (It turns out, something came up and he couldn't go as planned.) But what if the situation was something more important? How long should one wait for someone?

I don't really know, I guess it depends on how important. If your life and happiness depended on it, I guess one could wait forever. What do you think? How long will/can you wait?

Netflix's Next Gen has Heart (no spoilers)

I was lucky enough to view a special screening of this film at AsiaPopComicCon last Sunday.
If you like adorable robots and misunderstood teenagers, you will love this film. It might remind you of Wall-E, The Iron Giant, and Big Hero Six but make no mistake Next Gen is it's own film. It will tickle your funny bones and pull at your heart strings. I may have shed a tear or two. I think it's worth the $30 million dollars that Netflix dropped to buy it. It stars the amazing voices of  Jason Sudeikis, Michael Pena, Charlyne Yi, Constance Wu, and Anna Akana.

The Beginning of it All

Let's just say I was bored without anything to do but type.
That would have been simpler, but there won't be a sense of urgency.

No, I'm doing this for me. It' going to be nice to voice out some of my opinions.
I could practice my freedom of speech while I still can.

Everyone has something to say and everyone deserves to be respected and heard.
Hopefully this can inspire someone to start speaking out their minds as well and
I hope you're listening.
